Helping build Raleigh's urban oasis
The Conservancy works in partnership with the City of Raleigh, partners, and the community on park improvement projects that champion the vision of the master plan.
Current Projects
The Gipson Play Plaza at Dix Park will provide an opportunity to bring the community together and offer something for everyone. This 18.5-acre area off Lake Wheeler Road will become the welcoming grand entrance for the park and will attract visitors from near and far.
In response to the growing number of visitors to Dorothea Dix Park during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, the Dix Park Conservancy partnered with the City of Raleigh to address critical accessibility needs. Funded by Wake County through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), these improvements aim to ensure the park is accessible, welcoming, and safe for all visitors.
The Chapel Healing Garden is currently under construction, transforming an area near the historic chapel into a serene, restorative landscape. Designed as a space for reflection and connection with nature, the garden will provide a peaceful retreat for visitors while honoring the history of healing and care at Dix Park.
Completed Projects
The Stone Houses at Dix Park are a unique part of Raleigh’s history, now beautifully restored to serve the community in new ways.
The Greg Poole Jr. All Faiths Chapel is a centerpiece of Dix Park, blending historic mid-century modern architecture with modern amenities thanks to a full renovation completed by the Dix Park Conservancy in 2020.
