Dix Park invites public to weigh in on the draft Cultural Interpretation Plan

(Raleigh, NC) – May 10, 2024 – After 18 months of researching, listening, and strategizing about how history, community, recreation and reflection could come together at Dix Park, the Cultural Interpretation Plan draft is ready for public review and feedback.

Dix Park has a complex, layered past that reflects broader themes in our national history and our society today: indigenous land and displacement, slavery and unpaid labor, mental health, rehabilitation and recovery, and ecological imbalance.

The goal of the Cultural Interpretation Plan is to explore the complex history and many stories of the park site, and make recommendations for how visitors will learn about and experience this history in the future of the park.

The cultural interpretation team is requesting public input on the first draft of the plan. To review the plan and submit feedback, please visit the Cultural Interpretation Plan online engagement hub at https://publicinput.com/dixparkcip

The Cultural Interpretation Plan for Dix Park is made possible by the support of the National Endowment for the Humanities, State of North Carolina and Dix Park Conservancy.
