Inter-Tribal Pow Wow at Dix Park

In partnership with Indigenous community organizers and Dix Park Conservancy, we are excited to announce that Dix Park will host the City of Raleigh’s first ever Inter-Tribal Pow Wow on October 30, 2021! Join us for a day of competition dancing, music, and vendors showcasing the incredible legacy and culture of Indigenous communities living in North Carolina today.

Organizers of the Dix Park Inter-Tribal Pow Wow, including representatives from three tribes in North Carolina – Haliwa-Saponi, Lumbee, and Waccamaw-Siouan – the NC Museum of History, and Dix Park Conservancy, hope to bring out citizens from all eight tribes recognized in North Carolina to enjoy and participate in the day-long event.

“I'm excited for the opportunity to share our culture with the people of the Triangle area. I am thankful for the support and resources of the City of Raleigh and the Dix Conservancy, and I look forward to a successful inaugural event,” says Sandon Jacobs (Waccamaw-Siouan) of the Dix Park Pow Wow planning group.
